Director and writer Joss Whedon bring to life some of Marvel’s most famous and beloved characters. When the security of the world is threatened by emerging enemy Loki, Thor’s brother. Nick Fury, director of the International Peacekeeping Agency also known as S.H.I.E.L.D, finds himself in the need of putting together a team to defend the planet and save it from Loki and his army.
For this reason, Fury decides to reactivate the Avengers Initiative, and with the help of agents Natasha Romanoff and Phil Coulson, he recruits The Hulk, Iron Man, and Captain America, who are later joined by Black Widow who is Agent Romanoff, Hawkeye who is Agent Barton and Thor.
Whedon, creator of TV series like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel and Firefly does an amazing and outstanding job in capturing humor, suspense, action, fantasy and adventure in this movie. One minute, he has the audience in suspense, the next, they are laughing at the characters’ jokes, especially those of Iron Man.
His intelligence and imagination make of each character someone interesting. Wheldon was able to find a perfect balance to write an exciting, dramatic and hilarious script.
“The Avengers” brings together a very peculiar cast with Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/ Captain America, Mark Ruffalo as Dr. Bruce Banner/The Hulk, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Scarlett Johansson as Agent Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow and Jeremy Renner who plays Agent Clint Barton/Hawkeye.
The starring cast does an amazing job portraying the Super Heroes. Especially Ruffalo portrays The Hulk for the first time in his career. These great actors and their outstanding performances, along with the amazing special effects make this movie an unforgettable experience that leaves the audience speechless and wanting more.
Something interesting is the chemistry along the entire cast, which is shown in their performances. They work as a team to make the Marvel characters come to life. Along with the Super Heroes, the movie also includes other great actors.
Tom Hiddleston, who also appeared in the 2011 movie “Thor” comes back as Thor’s villain brother Loki. Hiddleston does a wonderful job as the villain. Loki is a different villain, he is a god with human aspects: vanity, jealousy and pride, which make the audience understand him and maybe even feel identified.
Clark Gregg from Iron Man 2008), gives life to Agent Phil Coulson, while Samuel L. Jackson from Captain America: The First Avenger 2011, portrays Nick Fury. Cobie Smulders, better known for her role of Robin Scherbatsky in the TV series “How I Met Your Mother,” gives life to Agent Maria Hill.
Some of the movie’s most outstanding scenes are the ones where the super heroes fight against each other before settling and starting to work as a team. The audience is highly encouraged to watch the rest of the super heroes’ movies before going to watch “The Avengers” in order to understand the movie and the stories behind each character.
“The Avengers” has been rated PG-13 for intense scenes of sci-fi violence and action and a mild drug reference by The Motion Picture Association of America. The movie lasts for two hours and 22 minutes.
