It’s been a tough season for the Husky volleyball team as they stand 3-11 overall after losing a 3-0, 10-25, 13-25, 11-25, sweep to El Camino College last Wednesday Oct. 24 in the women’s gym.

The Huskies look to test their game plan next at first place Pasadena City College on Friday, Oct. 26 at 6 p.m.

First year Head Coach Elliot Walker spoke on his teams preparation leading up to the El Camino game, “Their goal is to pass, play smart defense and shut them out so they don’t kill us to death.”

Unfortunately the Huskies had just that as El Camino breezed through the three sets holding ELAC to only 34 total points.

Second placed El Camino entered the game 12-4 overall and only one loss in South Coast Conference play at 6-1. The Huskies entered the game sixth in the SCC after edging LA Harbor College, 3-2, last Wednesday followed by a 3-0 loss to Long Beach City College.

In the first set against El Camino, the Huskies would quickly go down 3-0 on a couple defensive blunders by their middle blockers and defensive setters. El Camino scored the majority of their points in the in the center and right front.

In the second set the Huskies would rally and show some enthusiasm cutting the deficit two points, 9-7. That’s as close the Huskies would get allowing eight straight points.

Walker commented on how his team has progressed through the duration of the rough season saying, “Considering this is the first year of me taking over, they’ve progressed a great deal and we now have a game plan in which everyone knows the elements of strategy making them more comfortable in executing their game skills.”
