Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 had fans anxiously waiting over the past months, and Treyarch, creator of the series, didn’t fail to surprise them with an improved game.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 had its midnight release last Tuesday.
There was a line even before the local GameStop opened at Atlantic Square Shopping Center. Many of those waiting had class earlier, and also had decided to get their copy in the morning instead of the previous night.
The Call of Duty series had many fans waiting to play the game. The expectations for it were high, because it’s part of the Call of Duty series. The first Black Ops, released November 9, 2010, had many satisfied.
There was three modes for the game, the campaign, multiplayer, and zombies, which had new things added.
The campaign mode had a good story, but multiplayer is still one of the favorite modes for play regardless of the other games rereleased after it, such as Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3.
The long lines and time spent waiting didn’t matter once the game was played.
In Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, the player can shape the story. The decisions that the player makes during the game have an impact in the outcome of the story.
In this Call of Duty, the player is not just a player, but part of the story. Before each mission the player can customize the class that will be used for that mission. The campaign mode consists of different character’s perspectives, and different time zones.
After campaign mode, multiplayer is next for most of those who like to play.
In the multiplayer mode Treyarch added new ways in which the player can create their class, customizing their weaponry and gameplay.
Up to 10 perks are allowed when customizing a class. This allows the player to be able to create more combinations for each class giving them more freedom to let their imagination grow.
In some of the previous series there was the kill streak, well now there is the Score streak, which would depend on the score and not the player’s death ratio.
This allows a more balanced game for those who simply want to get as many kills as possible and the amount of deaths doesn’t affect their streak.
In multiplayer modes, there are new items that have been added. The classics are back such as Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Kill Confirmed and Hardpoint, which is new.
For the multiplayer and zombie fans, the map from the previous Call of Duty: Black Ops is back. Nuketown returns to multiplayer, and was introduced as a map for zombies.
The map in Nuketown 2025 is a futuristic update of the previous Black Ops’ Nuketown.
The size of the map makes the game quick, and allows the player to get kills easier. The map for zombies is surprisingly great when it comes to graphics and design.
Zombie mode for the previous game was just survival now they have added Tranzit. In this zombie mode the players start at a diner and have to take a bus which will take them to different maps.
Also there is more that has been added to zombies’ mode such as gathering parts from maps that latter can build something which can help in defense when dealing with zombies.
The graphics are improving with each Call of Duty that is released. While there is still cons in the game, such as in multiplayer the lobbies have experienced delay, and small glitches, or in zombies some say the maps are too small.
This is in comparison with the previous Call of Duty: Black Ops where their maps are larger, and enable more strategies. However these small details don’t stop the game from achieving success among its fans.
The improvement is that Treyarch took the risk, and has achieved so far one of the best Call of Duties from all the series. Many fans including Christian Campa ,an Elac student who obtained his copy of the game on the release date, are content and the game went over their expectations.
Treyarch could have easily made a game and change minimum details about it, and would of have sold millions of copies, however they decided to go beyond expectations of their fans. They transformed it into a game that captivates the player to feel part of the game.
The graphics are better, the maps range from small map to large.
The story of the campaign makes the player be part of it, and keeps them interested. Previously, playing survival mode for hours was fun, but now they have made the maps smaller, which would require strategies of teamwork to get beyond the first levels.
