The East Los Angeles College softball team won three games this past week including a no-hitter thrown by sophomore pitcher Alashnee Medina at Los Angeles Harbor College in a 10-0 victory on Thursday.
The Huskies put their three-game win streak on the line when they host the state’s No. 9-ranked Mt. San Antonio College this Tuesday on the ELAC softball field at 5 p.m.
ELAC received honorable mention votes in the Southern California poll when they sported a 2-2 overall record. “Our goal is to get into the playoffs and win state. We have a balanced team with good pitching, hitters and a great defense,” ELAC Head Coach Erika Blanco said.
ELAC stands 4-2 overall and 3-0 in the South Coast Conference. Mt. SAC (5-2, 1-1) enters the game with a three-game winning streak of their own.
In the no-hitter victory against Harbor the Huskie offense collected a total of eight hits, two from sophomore first baseman Nicole Guzman, who has team-high .500 batting average (with more than one appearance at the plate).
Medina is 4-2 overall for the Huskies and leads the SCC with a 1.14 ERA, and 37 strikeouts. ELAC
