East Los Angeles College won its first-ever South Coast Conference softball title while the Huskies baseball team is one game behind conference leading Cerritos College with two games left.

The softball team, 29-9 overall, finished 18-3 in the final SCC standings.

The Huskies closed out SCC play with 10 consecutive wins to surpass Mt. San Antonio College (32-8, 17-4) and tie Cerritos (30-10, 18-3) for the title.

Key to the ELAC’s SCC title run was a 5-1 upset over then first place Mt. SAC, on April 5, followed by a 5-4 shocker of Cerritos, April 10.

The baseball team (21-13, 13-6) ends the regular season with two games against Los Angeles College Harbor College (15-19, 6-13) tonight at 5 p.m. at home and tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. on the road.

The Huskies need to win out this week combined with at least one loss from Cerritos (23-11, 14-5) to tie for the SCC title.
