The Speech Team at East Los Angeles College earned eight top awards at their October tournament that took place at Pasadena City College.
Fourteen members of the ELAC speech team competed at the event.
Gordon Ip earned the highest honor of Tournament Champion in Poetry Interpretation. He also won first place from each preliminary and final round critic. He was the only student who achieved this.
Israel Beltran and Chloe Romero, were voted Tournament Champions in Oral Interpretation and Prose Interpretation.
Other ELAC Speech Team award winners were Steven Fuel, second place in Dramatic Interpretation; Thomas Martinez, second place in Prose Interpretation; Alondra Dimas, finalist award in Poetry Interpretation, Cinthia Montes de Oca and Liliana Dung, finalists in Prose Interpretation.
Over twenty Colleges and Universities from the United States Southwest region participate in the annual speech event.
