The courses offered are useful. After completion of any course, a certificate will be awarded.
The following courses are available through the community service program: medical training, health and beauty, safe food handling, business finance, arts and crafts, dance and swimming.
Fabiola Soto, a student at East Los Angeles College said that her mother, Leticia, attended a general business finance course.
Leticia had been working as a receptionist for a company in Downtown Los Angeles.
Leticia tried to go back to school at some point, but was unable to attend. She was a single mother and could not afford to work only part-time job. Soto talked to her mother about the community service courses ELAC offers.
Her mother took a general business finance course on the weekends and now works in the financing department for the same company she had always worked for.
The Community Service courses are great for people that never had the time to finish college, want to develop a new skill or a new hobby. Attending these community service courses also offers benefits to those taking advantage of it.
Courses are offered during the weekend, and upon completion job placements are offered.
