First Friday jazz Fall season begins

Musicians start to tune their  instruments to perform at the first Friday Jazz Series at the East Los Angeles College Recital Hall in building S2 on Oct. 2.

Friday Night Jazz Series is a concert sponsored by the Department Chair of the Music Department, Robert B. Dawson.

Jazz Series is held three times out of the semester on Fridays with a small charge. They have been sponsored by Dawson.

The Jazz Series will have Jay Leach featuring the band Limon. Leach is a jazz guitarist.  Jay Leach plays a variety of instruments, such as the electric and acoustic guitar, pedal steel, lap steel, banjo, dobro and the mandolin.

Leach also plays other genres of music such as Acoustic, American Latin and Blues.

Tim Torrance plays the guitar, Gary Wicks plays the bass , Ed Smith plays the deums and Riche Garcia is on percussions for Lemon.

Garcia has performed with famous singers such as Celia Cruz, Tito Pentes, Diana Ross and etc.

The concert will start at 8 p.m. but the doors will open at 7:30 p.m.

The cost of general admission is $12 for adult and for students is $6 with a valid student ID For convenient parking, the adjacent parking structure is available.
