The Art Department is hosting a study abroad program in Germany and the Czech Republic (Prague) for Art Appreciation and International Independent Study.
East Los Angeles College students that participate in the Summer 2016 International Independent Study, will have a record of their trip for all future universities and jobs applications.
Students interested can enroll in Art 103 for class credit. Participants must be at least 18 years old, unless arrangements are made for a guardian to travel with them.
Students will fly to Germany while touring through Berlin, Dessau, Wittenberg, Potsdam, Dresden and to Czech Republic (Prague). Travelers have the option to change their gateway or partake in personal traveler options,which include going to Europe before the group or after.
“There will be one class meeting and the rest abroad,” organizer of the trip,Professor Surana Singh said.
The tour will cover art periods ranging from art to ancient world and contemporary art.All travelers will be able to visit Dessau where the number one School of Art design is located.
“On the tour there will be an opportunity to also visit Wittenberg where Martin Luther wrote the 95 thesis,” said Singh.
There will also be many opportunities for students to go sightseeing.
“ We will go on a tour on how they make beer,” Singh said.
Singh said that students will be able to get out there and see new things and that this trip is a great opportunity to learn about another culture
Singh will also offer help with basic phrases that travelers will need to know to communicate in Germany.
The cost of the trip will be a total of $3692. If 25 students travel the price will be reduced to $3607. Ages 30 and older price will be from $3992 or $3,907 and includes an upgrade to twinning ( 2 people per room) rather than standard student rooming which is (3-4 people per room). All travelers have the opportunity to upgrade their rooming.

“There are many options to consider that may enable you to participate in studying abroad,” said Alvarado.
