The East Los Angeles College Animation Program will present this year’s Southeast European Animation Day in the Music Recital Hall on Saturday.
This will be the third year that East Los Angeles College partners up with Cinema Without Borders to present the Animation day.
They will also be partnering up with the Southeast European Film Festival. The films that will be shown are all animated short films, no longer than 11 minutes.
After the films, there will be a Q and A panel. The panelists include: ItalianAmerican animator Cinzia Angelini, expert Sarah Baisley, editor in chief of “Animation Magazine” Tom McLean, Bulgarian-American concept artist Vladimir Todorov and Iranian-American animation director Noureddin Zarrinkelk.
Mike Libonati, an animator and visual artist that runs ELAC’s Animation Department, will be the panel moderator.
Angelini will give an update on the film she has been working on for 12 years called “Mila.”
The film is based on events that happened to Angelini’s mother. The event will also honor Zarrinkelk for his work in animation and present him with a Life Achievement award.
Zarrinkelk was elected to be president of Association International du Film d’Animation by his peers in 2003.
He has animated and directed 16 short animated films. The event will be from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
