Let’s Dance Company from East Los Angeles College will host its 12th Repertoire Dance Concert on Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Dance Recital Hall.

Kimberly Denise Rabins is co-directing the dance concert with Kristin Chew Reutimann.

Rabins is the artistic director and was a former member of the San Diego State University dance team.

Reutimann is a member of the Los Angeles Community College District Dance Committee and a University of Arizona graduate, where she received her masters of Fine Arts in Dance, and is working together with Rabins on the coordination of the dance event.

Rabins said she is excited to share the passion for the art of dance with ELAC students and the surrounding community.

Fifteen dancers will be in the performance. Among those dancers will be 11 women and four men.

Students will have a variety of different acts during the show.

“The dancers have been rehearsing for over six months for this concert. They rehearse four days a week,” Rabins said.

An audition is held annually to select the dancers in order to be part of the show. Half of the members dancing this weekend will be new to the company.

“The twelve dance acts that will be presented on the show will be in a variety of different genres and styles of music. Every concert is different,” Rabins said.

There are new choreographies to expect this Friday. Rabins said the event will be under two hours.

Among the styles of music and dance in the show that will be performed are ballet, jazz, modern and hiphop.

The mission statement for the Let’s Dance Company, as stated on their webpage, says that it represents a group of dancers with multicultural backgrounds who prosper by taking an enthusiastic approach to learning, bonding, and gathering experiences.

The program teaches students through the process of disciplinary skills to prepare them to perform in front of an audience, which is the objective of the Let’s Dance Company.

According to the Let’s Dance Company website, the confidence and flexibility gained in the team allows the students to feel positive in their performances.

The years of discipline for each member are demonstrated by his or her rehearsals and contribution to the team.

The event will have an admission charge of $15 dollars.

Anyone interested in joining the Let’s Dance Company for the next 2017-2018 dance show can audition on Thursday, May 25 at 3 p.m. in the ELAC Performing and Fine Arts Complex S2-106 dance studio.
