‘How to be a Latin Lover’ exceeds audience’s expectations

“How to be a Latin Lover”, a comedy film, exceeds expectations by showing how a desperate man fails in his quest to seduce older rich women who will sustain him for the rest of this live.

Maximo played by Eugenio Derbez, seeks for a old millionaire wife to sustain him so he won’t have to work for the rest of his life, However when he finally marries Millicent, played by Linda Lavin, she switches him for a younger man. Maximo’s younger vision is played by Derbez’s son Vadhir Derbez.

After 25 years of marriage and seducing older rich women, Maximo must move in with his estranged sister Sara, played by Salma Hayek, where he begins to learn the value of family. It’s a Latin movie, so the jokes are more relatable for Latin American people.

In the cinema, the audience laughed out loud. Although the film is not a typical American comedy film, it is to the American audience to understand the comedy. It’s a film to see with family because it doesn’t have criminal or graphic scenes.

Derbez does a good job a portraying a desperate man in need for a rich women to sustain his greedy needs.

Although the film is based on a hispanic man, the cast is majority American.Derbez is a well known celebrity and very popular. He’s been the protagonist in films such as “No instructions included”, “The book of life”, “Aztec Warrior” and “Miracles from Heaven”.

Hayek has a large filmography history such as “Hotel”, “In the time of the Butterflies”, “Frida” or “Grow up 2”. In “How to be a Latin Lover”, she is the sister of Maximo and teaches him about the values of family. They lose their father when they were young but lead lives because Maximo just wants to be millionaire and not work for the rest of his life.

One of the best actors in the movie is Hugo played by Raphael Alejandro who with his tenderness and backstory will captivate audiences. Maximo want to teach Hugo with his “ability” to win over the women that Hugo likes.

The film was almost was sold out in every cinema in Los Angeles in its premiere weekend.
