Women’s soccer scores early goal to secure win

Women’s soccer defeated Ventura College 1-0 yesterday with an early goal at Weingart stadium.

Sophomore forward Stephanie Galvan took advantage of Ventura’s defensive mistake to score at the 15 minute mark.

“As a team we connected more and we came out really strong. We came out pretty strong in the first 15 minutes and we got the goal. I felt like we were complacent toward the middle of the game and, in the second half, we came out stronger because we had the ball more,” Galvan said.

The Huskies had many opportunities to score in the second half, but failed to. At 80 minutes ELAC sophomore forward Jennifer Toledo had a one-on-one encounter with Ventura goalkeeper, but was denied the goal.

“It wasn’t a pretty game and I don’t think we played the way we wanted to. Nonetheless, it’s a win and I’m happy with that,” head coach Tessa Troglia said.

ELAC’s next game is on the road against Los Angeles Harbor College on Friday.
