Comedian Gabriel Iglesias is returning to East Los Angeles College on June 19 to perform his “One Show Fits All” stand-up in the G3 auditorium.
This is the second time Iglesias will be performing at ELAC and will be headlining as well as bringing his opening guests along to perform.
Athletic trainer Diane Stankevitz, P.h.D., is coordinating the event and all of the proceeds of the show will be donated to different departments at ELAC.
“The show is supposed to be for ELAC. The whole idea is to donate all proceeds,” Stankevitz said. The first time Iglesias performed at ELAC, she was able to donate a whopping $15,000 which went to the athletic scholarships. “This year I will hopefully be able to make a $25,000 donation,” Stankevitz said.
The tickets are being sold by a private vendor online which means attendees cannot purchase tickets from Stankevitz or at school.
“I’m looking to donate to the ELAC Foundation, the athletics scholarship, and a couple of other departments I am involved with, such as the Dance and Music departments,” Stankevitz said.
She has been doing the comedy shows for many years but was finally able to get into contact with Iglesias’s agent after going “through hell and highwater,” to form a good enough relationship to get him back on campus.
“I might be able to get him back yearly or every couple of years. He promised he’d come back, and I take my promises seriously,” said Stankevitz.
Tickets can only be purchased from www.comedytrain.net and although the event is at ELAC, it is open to the general public since the school isn’t selling the tickets directly.
The most expensive ticket is $98, which will get you in the front row and the cheapest would be $12.
The Foyer doors will open at 5 p.m. and the theater doors will open at 6:30 P.M.
