The Huskies win a close game against Bakersfield College 27-24. The Huskies would extend their win streak to two and would go 5-4 on the season. Garcia would be team player for the Huskies.
Both teams would be unable to score on their first drives.
On the second drive, Bakersfield quarterback Dexter Frampton would complete a 30-yard pass to Jackson to set up a field goal for kicker Peter Delis. Delis would make the 41-yard field goal to give Bakersfield a 3-0 lead in the first quarter.
The Huskies converts a field goal after a couple of penalties gave the Huskies two first downs. A pass attempt from quarterback Rudy Garcia to wide receiver Cobe Stribling gets overthrown in the endzone. Husky kicker Christian Reyes converts a 36-yard field goal to tie the game 3-3.
After the Husky touchdown, Bakersfield looked to score right away but quarterback Frampton overthrew a wide-open pass to wide receiver Isaac that could have been a long touchdown. Bakersfield was forced to punt on the drive.
In the second quarter, the huskies would fumble the ball after it gets mishandled by running back Jaden Mason and quarterback Garcia. Bakersfield would recover the ball at the Huskies 17-yard line.
Bakersfield would score on the drive after a screen play to 13 and his spin move evades the Huskies defense and took it all the way to the endzone for a 32-yard touchdown. Bakersfield led 10-3 early in the second quarter.
The Huskies looked to go for it on fourth down, but it would be a fake attempt and instead would punt the ball. With no punt returner in the backfield, the ball would land in the Bakersfield 3-yard line.
Huskies would force a fumble after running back gets tackled and the Huskies would recover the ball at the Bakersfield 3-yard line. First play after the recovery, the Huskies were unable to score on the three downs and went for it on fourth down. Garcia would pass to wide receiver Braylon Willis for a to two-yard touchdown. Huskies tied the game 10-10 with under 10 minutes to go in the half.
Bakersfield would get the ball on the Kickoff but would not get any points on the board. Bakersfield elected to go on 4th and 3 but the defense would force a turnover. After the turnover, Garcia would pass to Pedro Amousou inside the Bakersfield 10-yard line on the first play. The next play, Garcia connects to Guy McCarthy for a seven-yard touchdown pass. The Huskies led 17-10 with six minutes to go in the half.
The Huskies would have the ball after the Huskies defense forced Bakersfield to punt with 3:05 to go. Garcia would pass to Khadeem Richards for a 23-yard completion. Pedro Amousou would be given the ball for a 68-yard rush gained. A personal foul would be given to Bakersfield defense for a horse call tackle to get the Huskies at the Bakersfield two-yard line.
The Huskies seemed they were going to score on the drive, but a high snap would cause Garcia to lose control of the ball and it would get returned by the Bakersfield defense. Bakersfield would score a 91-yard return touchdown to make it 17-16 for the Huskies. Bakersfield would miss the extra that could have tied the game.
Huskies would try to score with under 30 seconds left on the clock of the first half. The Huskies would get the ball at the Bakersfield 35-yard line and attempted a field goal. The 53-yard field goal would be missed and that ended the half.
Bakersfield would score the first points of the half on five plays on the drive. Braden Gordon would score the one-yard touchdown after he extended his hand to cross the ball over the goal line. Bakersfield would also score the two-point conversion by Antoino Robison for a one-yard completion to give Bakersfield a 24-17 lead. A bad kickoff by Bakersfield would give the Huskies good field advantage at the Bakersfield 48-yard line to start the drive. Eight plays later the Huskies would attempt a 34-yard field goal. Christian Reyes converts the field goal to make it 24-20, Bakersfield led.
The Huskies would have the ball at the start of the fourth quarter at the Huskies 17-yard line. Garcia would rush the ball for a 44-yard gain to put the Huskies at the Bakersfield 32-yard line.
Five plays later Garcia would get intercepted at the Bakersfield 25-yard line with 11:29 to go.
The Huskies defense would force Bakersfield to attempt a 32-yard field goal after 13 plays on the drive. Huskies were able to block the shot and recover it at the Huskies 16-yard line with 5:28 to go in the game.
Garcia would be the key player of the drive after the blocked field goal. On 3rd and 14, Garcia finds Jaden Mason for 36-yard completion to put the Huskies at the Bakersfield 32-yard line. Garcia would then complete two first downs on his own for a gain of 22 yards to put Huskies at the 20-yard line. Garcia would run again for a 4-yard gain and a penalty was given to Bakersfield and gave the Huskies eight more yards. Garcia would then score the winning touchdown for the Huskies.
The Huskies would get their second win of the conference. The Huskies are 2-2 in the conference. The Huskies will face the unbeaten Ventura college who are 9-0 on the season. The Huskies will try another upset on Ventura as the Huskies have already beaten an undefeated team, College of the Canyons this season. The game will be played at Ventura college at 6 p.m this Saturday.
