The East Los Angeles College men’s soccer avenged last month’s 2-1 loss to Long Beach City College beating them 2-1 at home, last night in front of a vocal crowd.
With the South Coast Conference win, the Huskies now stand 5-6-4 overall, 3-5 in SCC play. The Vikings dropped to 4-8-3 (2-3-3).
Neither team is ranked however both are mathematically still in the hunt for a playoff berth.
The first goal of the night came from LBCC’s Andre Martinez at the 19-minute mark.
The Huskies responded with a corner kick by Daniel Llanos that Carlos del Campo managed to break through and score at the 61-minute mark.
The Huskies put all their effort into the Vikings midfield, prompting Juan Martinez to score, with another assist from Llanos, at the 79-minute mark.
“We started intense, so that (last) goal gave us more confidence to defend hard,” Martinez said.
“We gave more strength and more heart in this game probably more than we’ve had all season,” he continued.
The next SCC game for the Huskies will be at Pasadena City College on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
