The contract ends for Los Angeles Community College District Chancellor Daniel LaVista on June 30, which is when he will resign.
He released his resignation in a statement last Wednesday.
LaVista’s decision comes after “extensive consideration of professional and personal factors.”
“I’ve decided that the timing is right for me to pursue other opportunities that combine my professional and family interest,” LaVista said in his statement.
The statement also detailed that the Board of Trustees has sufficient time to recruit a Chancellor.
“I am confident the the Board of Trustees will communicate with you about its plans for recruitment of a Chancellor when it is ready to do so,” LaVista said in the final paragraph of his statement.
