East Los Angeles’ first annual Comic Con will be led by Peter J. Mellini, the owner of Nostalgic Books and Comics, located in San Gabriel.
Founded by comic book fans in East Los Angeles the official East Los Angeles Comic Con website states “this first of its kind show is dedicated to bringing an epic pop culture experience for all that reflects the fans of the surrounding communities.”
Mellini and the rest of the team behind the convention has made their passion for the community clear, stating in a live stream that “the comic con is not being done by some outside corporation” as to show this is an event for the community and by the community, not a money grab.
They also say in that same live video that all local artists and vendors are welcome as to showcase the talent of East L.A.
So far local talents such as Richard Garcia, Jandro Gambia, Richard Soto, and many more will be presenting there.
Even though the Convention is being done at a community level it is still making big waves being covered by the likes of LA Weekly, Mitú, and being listed as “1 of 50 amazing things to do in L.A. in May” by Time Out Los Angeles.
The First Annual East Los Angeles Comic Con will be held on May 20th El Gallo Plaza in Los Angeles at free admission to all.
