Women’s Basketball

Women’s basketball season ended last Saturday after losing 70-55 away at Irvine Valley College in the Southern California Playoffs.

The Huskies ended its season with an overall record of 18-11 and finished third with a 6-4 record in the South Coast Conference-North.

Freshman forward Dominique Godbolt led the Huskies with 19 points and nine rebounds. Godbolt was ranked first in the SCC-North with a 13.2 rebound per game average.

East Los Angeles College sophomore forward Monica Garcia scored a total of 15 points and also got nine rebounds, eight out of the nine were defensive rebounds. Garcia ended the season ranked second in points per game in the SCC-North with an average of 18.2 points per game.

Softball

East Los Angeles College’s softball game was canceled yesterday against Cerritos College due to rain, and was rescheduled to be played on April 20 at 1 p.m.

After a tough weekend for the Huskies, who are now 6-8 overall and 0-2 in the South Coast Conference-North, after three consecutive losses. The Huskies played on Monday at Riverside Community College and lost 2-1. ELAC had the lead in the top of the second inning after a mistake from Riverside third baseman that allowed sophomore infielder Emily Sanchez reach first base. Sophomore outfielder Dominique De Alba got to second and sophomore pitcher Samantha Alvarado scored the first run of the game.

Riverside immediately replied in the bottom of the second inning with a homerun from sophomore catcher Aerial Carlson to tie the game. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Carlson scored an unearned run after a mistake from ELAC freshman third baseman Julie Granadeno.

The Huskies’ next game will be tomorrow at 3 p.m. at Chaffey College.
