The financial struggle is real, relationships just as much grades are important in college life, and nothing yells out “college life” like being broke and questioning everything you thought you knew. Balancing a dating life along with your budget is no easy task.
It can be hard to plan a nice date when you are a broke college student. The most important thing is to stay true to yourself and your budget. Too many people buy things with money they don’t have, trying to impress people they don’t like.
It might not seem like ElAC has a lot to offer, but with an open mind and with the right person, ELAC can be the most romantic spot on earth. More importantly, test out these simple yet effective cheap dating plans.
Many colleges and universities have museums on campus and ELAC is no exception. The Vincent Price Art Museum (S1) serves its community by providing free exhibitions in mostly all types of visual arts. VPAM is open Tuesday – Saturday from noon until 4 p.m.
Make your school ID work for you. Lots of movie theaters located near a college campus offer discounted movie tickets with proof of ID. The Student Activities Office (F5-212) also offers discounted tickets Monday – Thursday from 8 a.m. until 6:30 p.m., and Friday 8 a.m- 4 p.m. Great opportunity to receive movie tickets at a discounted rate.
Attend a college sporting event whether it is soccer, basketball or football. Events can usually cost money. However, ticket prices are relatively cheap and many times free. Sporting events can make great dates and can show school spirit along the way.
If ELAC had a planetarium, it would be a great way to plan a date around, but sadly we are not accommodated with the space. A great alternative is late night at the parking lot. Not only is it dark and quiet but it’s a perfect place to sit next to each other and have endless conversational bliss.
It begins with a spark-of-attraction, moves onto a smile and ends up in a date. Don’t forget, dating is important because you learn a lot about yourself and you get a better idea of what you want for your future. So when you meet that special person, you’ll have more fun. Focus on yourself and gain valuable experience. Many times, you may have to kiss a few ugly toads to find prince charming along the way. One day, when you hit 30, you might find yourself on the wrong side of the bed, only to roll over and find the love of your life asleep right next to you.
