Incumbent Vice President Rosa Mendoza and ASU Senator Michelle Dang are now President-elect and Vice President of Finance-elect after winning their respective East Los Angeles College Associated Student Union elections. Mendoza defeated Chief Delegate Paul Medina. In the election for Vice President of Finance, ASU Senator Michelle Dang was declared the winner. The candidate who placed first, Lizeth Huerta, withdrew from the election last month. Dang placed second and Michael Graham placed third. The office of President and Vice President of Finance were the only offices that had multiple candidates running.

Mendoza touted her experience as Vice President during her campaign. She said she would be an advocate for students and be a leader to other board members. She said she would support them in any projects that would help enrich students’ lives at ELAC. Mendoza promises to show support for students who attend the South Gate campus. She wants to ensure any student who primarily attends the campus will be able to receive the same benefits as students who attend the main campus in Monterey Park. One of the first priorities Mendoza will be immediately tasked with is choosing appointments to the offices of Vice President of South Gate, Vice President of Public Relations, Treasurer and Secretary due to no one running for those offices during the election.

During the campaign for Vice President of Finance, VP-elect Michelle Dang said her experience volunteering at various organizations specializing in treasury duties when she was in high school. As an ASU Senator, Dang served on the Benefits Committee, which she said gave her a lot of insight on the financial responsibilities of ASU. She said it will help her to provide benefits to the students at ELAC.
