Baseball fights until the end in loss, 12-5

The baseball team lost its game Feb. 24, against El Camino College 12-5 after not being able to get their bats going.

Catcher Carlos Morales said his team did not do bad and fought hard despite the outcome.

“You need to be calm out there, no matter what happens, you know. You just have to lead these guys. It can be difficult especially as a freshman… I’m still learning how to do it,” Morales says.

El Camino quickly added to its score by bringing in runs at the top of every inning with the Huskies putting a stop to that during the sixth inning, allowing no runs.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, infielder Evan Chavez was able to get a fly ball to right center field.

Amaris Harrison came in and put up a run on the Huskies scoreboard.

After bringing in right-handed pitcher Michael Rablero, the Huskies had a quick sixth inning with the last out being caught by

Harrison who was playing second base.

At the top of the seventh inning, the Huskies brought in right-handed pitcher Julian Hernandez, a in the El Camino line up.

In the top of the eighth inning, another right-handed pitcher Jordan Garcia was backed up by his infielders and was able to get a double play.

Garcia was able to strike out the last batter giving the Huskies a quick top of the eighth inning.

The Huskies quickly put their bats to work with infielder Beno Olmeda hitting a home run in the bottom of the eighth inning, bringing in two more runs making the score 12-3.

“It felt good, you know, I was just trying to pick up my guys. Score was 12-1, but it felt good,” says Olmeda.

Huskies had a total of five RBIs, by Amaris Harrison, Evan Chavez, Beno Olmeda had two and Jesse Rojas.

The Huskies played Mt. San Antonio College on Feb. 20 and lost 6-2. ELAC faced Mt. Sac again Feb.29 at 3 p.m.
