The Huskies were defeated on Oct. 30 match against Victor Valley College by an overwhelming 52-6 score.

A total of 10 matches were scheduled but within less than an hour the dual between the teams was decided. Out of the 10 matches that were scheduled four were forfeited from the Huskies.

This granted the opposing team a total of 24 points.

The first match ended swiftly with a pinfall, granting the opposing team six points. The start of the second match was a forfeit by ELAC, granting 6 points.

The third match was one of the longer and most drawn out matches of the night. It ended in a pinfall worth six points, making it the only win of the night for the Huskies.

The fourth and fifth matches ended in a technical fall, which meant that one opponent or the other had scored over 15 points in their individual match ending it automatically. Each technical fall is worth five points in the overall team score for a dual.

The sixth match ended in a pinfall and the seventh in a forfeit, adding an additional twelve points to Victor Valley.

The eighth match of the night was one of three matches that advanced past the first period. It ended in the second period with a pinfall granting Victor Valley six points.

The final two matches of the night were forfeited by ELAC, leaving the score of the night 52-6.

“They enjoyed the fight,” said Head Coach Miguel Soto.  He said that the team needed to work on moving around more and not remaining still during individual matches, but still handled themselves well that evening.

“I realized that I wanted it more than the other guy,” sophomore John David Islas said. He was the winner of the third match of the evening who not only had the longest match, lasting all three periods, but scored the only 6 points for ELAC through a pinfall.

He said that despite having a shaky beginning to the season, he remains optimistic for the remainder of it.

The next wrestling event will be away at Fresno City College for the Bill Musak Tournament on Nov. 7.
