BAC discusses allocation of remaining $28 million budget
East Los Angeles College budget committee focused on the allocation of funds still available as part of the school’s annual budget. There is an estimated $28 million remaining in the budget that needs to be spent or it will get sent back to the state by the end of the year.
UMOJA connects students with scholarships
In keeping with the “Umoja spirit,” The East Los Angeles College Umoja Community hosted two scholarship workshops Thursday on Zoom. Meaning “unity” in Swahili, the Umoja Community is a global group of educators who work together in order to inspire and uplift students of African descent.

Important dates for Fall 2020 Students
East Los Angeles College’s Fall 2020 classes have started, and students should be aware of some important dates. Classes that meet for less than 16 weeks have different add and drop dates. For information on these classes, the ELAC website suggests checking student’s information portals. The following table has information on adding and dropping classes that are 16 weeks in length.
Trump impeachment inquiry announced
The word “impeachment” has been thrown around since President Donald Trump was elected, but there were no official proceedings until U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced an official impeachment inquiry yesterday. This isn’t a guarantee that the president will be impeached, but rather the start of an investigation into a conversation between Trump and the president of the Ukraine.
