Los Angeles voters elected former East Los Angeles College President Ernest Moreno to the board of trustees of the Los Angeles Community College District. Moreno defeated Jozef Essavi with 67 percent of the vote.

He released his resignation in a statement last Wednesday. Extended Opportunity Program Services is now accepting applications December 10 through January 4. EOPS are only accepting only new students on a first come, first service basis. No students will be admitted after all the spots have been filled.
The Dream Act and AB 540 will be discussed in a workshop on campus today from 2 pm to 3:30 pm in E1-189. The workshop is being held by Students for Equal Rights. AB 540 is a state law that helps undocumented students by providing cost savings. The Dream Act is federal legislation that supports a path to residency. Education is a primary path for the Dream Act.
