Coach Gilberto Sandoval passes, leaves behind positive impact

Gilberto Sandoval, assistant soccer coach at East Los Angeles College, died Sept. 7 leaving behind family, ELAC friends and players. The ELAC Athletic Department website said Sandoval died of complications due to COVID-19. He started his coaching career at ELAC with the women’s soccer team. He then became assistant coach on the ELAC men’s soccer team.

On campus enrollment for East Los Angeles College is “Saturday, August 21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.” said the ELAC website. Students should bring identification information and will be allowed to apply for fall classes.

Roman chosen to fill ELAC president position
