Gilberto Sandoval, assistant soccer coach at East Los Angeles College, died Sept. 7 leaving behind family, ELAC friends and players. The ELAC Athletic Department website said Sandoval died of complications due to COVID-19. He started his coaching career at ELAC with the women’s soccer team. He then became assistant coach on the ELAC men’s soccer team.

Professor George Demetri Tangalos was a man of many talents and mysteries. Tangalos died on Oct. 1 after he was admitted to the hospital twice. During the second emergency visit, he remained unresponsive until passing.
